Privacy, in plain language.
GetVetsHiredis built to hold as little of your information as possible. Here's exactly what happens with your data — no legalese.
What the AI sees — and what it never sees
To translate your service into civilian language, we send the AI your service facts (branch, rank, MOS, duties, awards, deployments, clearance level, education). The contact details you type into the builder — your name, email, phone, and address — and your photo are never sent to the AI; we merge those into your resume on your device, at render time only. One exception:if you upload an existing resume, we send that file to the AI to read and reformat it, so anything printed on it (which can include your name and contact details) is part of what the AI processes. We don't keep it afterward, and we never send an uploaded resume anywhere for advertising.
No login to start — and your work saves itself
The moment you start building we create a private workspace for you — no account, no password. Your answers, including your contact details, save there as you go, so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off. It's yours alone. If you don't create an account, we delete that workspace automatically after 30 days of no activity. Your contact details are still never sent to the AI — only your service facts are.
Your saved resumes are yours
Saved resumes, versions, and cover letters are stored for your account so you can edit and download them anytime. You can delete any of them, and deleting your account removes them for good.
Cookies, analytics & advertising
We use a few tools to understand how the site performs and to measure the ads that bring veterans here. You're in control: if you're in the EU, UK, or a similar region, a banner asks you to accept before any of them run; everywhere else they run by default and you can opt out anytime — decline the banner or use . (One exception either way: a cookieless, first-party page-speed counter that collects no personal information.) When they're on, Meta receives a scrambled (hashed) version of your email and your IP address so we can tell which ads actually help — never your resume, never your service record.
The companies that help us run this
We share data only with the service providers that make the product work, each for the single purpose listed — never with data brokers:
- Anthropicthe AI that translates your service into civilian language — receives your service facts, plus any resume you upload (so it can read it); never the contact details you type in separately, and never your photo
- Supabasestores your private workspace, your account, and your saved resumes
- Stripeprocesses Premium payments — we never see or store your card number
- Vercelhosts the site and keeps it running
- Upstashkeeps the service fast and fair (rate limiting / abuse protection)
- PostHogproduct analytics — how features are used, so we can improve them (only if you accept)
- Meta (Facebook / Instagram)measures the ads that bring veterans here — receives a scrambled (hashed) version of your email and your IP address for ad measurement (only if you accept)
We never sell your data
No data brokers, ever. The product is funded by the optional Premium subscription — never by selling your information. The only data that ever leaves us for advertising is the scrambled email + IP described above, shared with Meta purely to measure our ads, and only if you accept. Under California law that counts as "sharing," and you can turn it off at any time (decline the banner, or use ).
Payments
Premium subscriptions are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Cancel anytime in one click from your account.
Your rights & choices
You can see, correct, or delete your data, and delete your account whenever you want. You can accept or decline analytics and advertising at any time (above). If you're in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of "sharing" for advertising — we honor all three, and we never sell. If you're visiting from the EU, UK, or another region with similar laws, we ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies run, and you can request access or erasure of your data.
How long we keep things
Anonymous workspaces are deleted after 30 days of no activity. Account data (saved resumes, versions, cover letters) is kept until you delete it or close your account. We hash IP addresses used for abuse protection and don't keep them tied to your identity.
